Sitting Proof

Introducing Meat

Very happy girl after she devoured an entire jar of chicken and rice! First time too...

Sitting

It's finally come. The great milestone of sitting has finally been met. I hesitated to finally announce that Jewell can sit all on her own until today because she kept falling or only staying for about 5 seconds. Until yesterday afternoon, when I sat her down, and she played. She just sat and played. I was shocked! She took it super seriously too. I believe I'm sensing a sudden urge of independence on her part! But the best part of all of this, was when she started throwing herself on to my lap and cracking up. It was so funny. It was like all of a sudden she though "hey, this moving stuff is cool!" Of course, we skipped the rolling stuff and went right to sitting. Silly girl!

No pictures. The camera was in the other room and the boppy was too. I didn't want to leave her and risk Daisy pushing her over. :) Of course, Jewell would fight back. She now loves to pull on the poor pups ears!

ENT

Today we took Jewell to the ENT. We enjoyed playing with a truck (the only movable toy) in the waiting room. That is, after 2 outfit changes. And of course, she enjoyed sitting up! Her new favorite thing...

After playing, they finally called us back to see the doctor. Everyone seemed to think Jewell was a doll. Love her ;). The doctor looked at her ears and said they looked great! This was a wonderful relief since we are now finishing round 3 of antibiotics for this last ear infection. He said he'd like to see her back in 5 weeks since cold season is ending. If we don't have any infections by that point then he's going to check her again next cold season. What a blessing!!! Hopefully we have no more infections.

The Weekend

We did a ton of different things this weekend. The main event was buying a sliding screen door for our back door. Now that we have a patio set, it would be nice to keep the door open by the porch.

Jewell spent time with Grandma while we shopped for the door.

And she also enjoyed some playing time with Daisy while we installed the door. I was shocked, she stayed on her tummy watching us and playing!

Growing Pains

This week has taught me one thing...building an immune system is tough! Jewell was sent home from daycare yesterday with a fever of 101.6. I knew several babies in her room have been out with fevers so it didn't bother me too much. She's been on her antibiotic for a few days so I figured she'd soon be okay. Today she woke up from her nap screaming. Usually after a 2 hour nap she wakes up happy. I took her a temperature right away and it was 102. I gave her Tylenol and took her temperature again 30 minutes later...it was 102.7. After an hour on the Tylenol it only went down to 102.3. So I decided she needed to back to the doctor.

After poking her foot with a needle twice to draw blood, they told me they had no idea what was causing the high fevers. Her blood count was fine! If she continues to have fevers in the 102 range by Friday night I'm to take her in again on Saturday. Poor Jewell!

We go to the ENT on Tuesday at 3:30. I think I'm going to actually tell them to put tubes in before they even evaluate her! I just want all these fevers to go away...

On the bright side, Jewell is doing great with sitting up!!! She's almost able to do it without any type of assistance. I'm so proud! She's getting so big already :). Oh, and she also learned how to take her diaper off. I wasn't too thrilled about that one!

Here are a few pictures from earlier this week!

Ear Infections and More

I had to take my little Jewell back to the doctor today. She seemed to not be completely better from her ear infection. After cleaning out her ears it was determined she still has the same ear infection from a month ago. This is now the 3rd antibiotic for just this ear infection. They have referred her to Greenville ENT to discuss tubes. Since she's been on 6 round of antibiotics in just 3 months they think it's a good idea to look further into the ear issue. Poor Jewell! I hope she feels better soon.

After the doctor visit this afternoon Jewell did some things that required a bath! So off we went, bath time! She had fun kicking and sucking on her pink duck. She usually loves her baths, until I take her out. She hates the cold air. So today I tried a different approach and gave her a toy to play with while I dried her off. It worked! No tears today :). What a blessing!

7 Months

I can't believe that Jewell is now over a half a year old. She changes so much each day! Here are a few important facts that I don't want to forget.

Dear Jewell,
I'm writing this like it's in your baby book. I hope you don't mind one that is printed from a blog! You have changed so much since you were first born, at 6 lbs 13 ounces. Enjoy reading what you could do at 7 months.

Weight: Last week you were 16 lbs. I had to take you to the doctor because of an ear infection that wouldn't go away. You seem to be just like Mommy!

Eating: You now eat a 6 ounce bottle at breakfast and 1/4 cup oatmeal cereal mixed with fruit. For lunch you eat a 7 ounce bottle and a jar of 2nd foods vegetables. You have another 7 oz bottle before I pick you up. For dinner you eat a 7 ounce bottle and a jar of second foods vegetables. Sometimes you eat fruit too.

Sleeping: You now take 2 naps in a crib! A huge accomplishment for our family. You used to only like the swing. You also sleep from 7 PM-7 AM. You really like your early bedtime. In fact, you get quite upset with me if I try to keep you up :).

Activity: You grab everything! Anything you pick up you put in your mouth. You also now bang your toys on the floor, walls, and highchair. You're favorite new activity is to throw the toys on the ground and wait for Mommy to pick them up. As soon as I pick them up you laugh! It's the cutest thing. Kicking has always been a favorite. We are still working on sitting up independently, but you're doing so much better. As for rolling...it's not that you can't do it, because you do when you're really mad, but you hate tummy time! You haven't quite figured out that you can be mobile by rolling and that it's fun. I used to get so discouraged about this. But now that you play with toys in the bumbo and move all around in it, I'm okay. You basically move non-stop now, you just don't go anywhere yet! But don't worry, you're apparently the most vocal baby at day care! So you've got those other babes beat in something.

Jewell, overall, you're a very sweet, content baby. I couldn't ask for a better one actually. Your doctor told me you've spoiled me! I pray for you daily, and I can't wait to see what the Lord has for you.

Love,
Mommy
